I was completely lost reading this book, perhaps because I didn't read any of the previous ones. I just couldn't get into any of the characters, forgot who was who, and just couldn't follow it. Reading all the excellent reviews, I keep thinking maybe I missed something but after 100 pages I reluctantly gave up.
Excellent! A creepy tale about the town of Prosperous with its ingrown residents and its secrets, it has the same eerie undertones as The Stepford Wives. No one thought killing a homeless man would result in an investigation, but the detective Charlie Parker is like a dog gnawing on a bone - he isn't about to give it up until his questions have been answered. D.
