Liked this episode a lot, I think it's the best one to come out in the last few years, but not the best in the series.

C.J. Box is one of my favorite authors. I've read all of his books including the Joe Pickett series as well as the stand alone novels and the ones featuring Cody Hoyt and Cassie Dewell. I always look forward to a new book from Box and am never disappointed. Wolf Pack is the 19th book in the Pickett series and they just seem to get better and better! In this one, Joe encounters a wealthy man who is using a drone to photograph wildlife but by doing so harshly affects the deer and elk herds he is chasing, panicking them and causing death and stress to the herd. He finds out who uses the drone with a little help from Nate Romanowski and a neighboring female game warden but he is told to back off by the FBI. Turns out the man is in witness protection and is a high level resource for the government. The man also happens to be the father of Joe's daughter, Lucy's boyfriend. But little does Joe realize that the man being protected is also being hunted by a group of assassins called the Wolf Pack who work for a Mexican drug cartel. And soon, Joe, Nate, and others also become targets of the assassins.

This was a real page turner which I read in a couple of days. It was also one of the most violent of the Pickett novels with the members of the Wolf Pack being some of the most vile and despicable killers of any portrayed by Box. It was full of action and suspense and kept me wanting more. Sadly, I will have to wait another year for the next in the series.

This series never fails to impress me with its breathtaking description of Wyoming and the wild life that roam it. I just adore Nate and his amazing falcons; the subject absolutely fascinates me and I literally absorb every detail.

This book took up my afternoon since I didn't want to put it down. It seems an unknown and unlicensed drone was spotted frightening and killing a range of mule deer and elk as they frantically ran over each other to get away.

It gets complicated as the mysterious drone operator, a murderous trio, The FBI and another Game Warden along with Joe Pickett try to solve the mystery.

This series gets better and better.
