Wonderful magical story for ages 10-up by a Newbery-Award winning children's writer. Lovely drawings appear occasionally throughout the book.

Great young adult novel about the importance of doing the right things. Full of magical happenings and surprises from a struggling wizard who, having been locked in a tree when all other wizards left this world for Vale Innis, was recently released when the tree was felled for a new road to the village.
An enjoyable read but does have violence (murderous plots and deeds, greed and thievery) so readers should be old enough to handle these situations. All is topsy-turvy to the last pages. Fast moving and fun with characters you will love and some you will despise.
