I am slowly working my way through this whole series. Witness In Death is a very good addition to the series. This book kept me reading....I even let the housework go....lost some sleep a couple of nights and just could not put it down.

Another wonderful read as always but especially interesting this time as Detective Dallas investigates a murder that she and a theater-filled audience witness during a play. It's difficult to even start to guess the murderer because the victim has so few admirers!

I have read all the first 10 of this series now. . .Just a great read each time, gotta love the Auto Chef. I will continue with Eve, Peabody, Roarke and the bunch till the end. . .Hope you enjoy the stories, (sex can get hot at times).. .

I love this series. From word one, the main story line grabs you and doesn't let go until the very last page. An added bonus is the continuing story line between Eve and her husband Roarke( Yummy!)and also the other players in Eve's life. Every free minute I have is spent reading and I'll definitely be so sad when the end is reached. I'm hooked though, and want to know how everyone ends up! Even if you can't do the whole series, each book is a great read on it's own.

On opening night, when the villainous character Leonard Vole gets his just deserts, someone substitutes a kitchen knife for the prop knife, and the actor, Richard Draco, is stabbed through the heart. Trouble is, in time-tested British mystery fashion, everyone in the cast had good reason to despise Richard, a misogynist who seduced and discarded beautiful young women, including one whom he knew to be his daughter. It's up to Eve to solve the case, an emotionally difficult task as she is no stranger to incest herself: she was beaten and raped by her father before she managed to escape him. As Eve fights to keep her head above water, she tries to bond at a deeper level with Roarke, so that her future will heal the pain of her past. Robb (aka Nora Roberts) serves up a welcome mix of edgy, sexy lovers,newfangled gadgets, classic whodunit and noir.

J.D. Robb's series about Lt. Eve Dallas is more entertaining with each book I read. Previous stories are only lightly touched upon making each a stand-alone volume. I suppose there are some who might consider this a futuristic bodice-ripper however I think the character development and relationships far outweigh that aspect of the story lines.

GREAT MYSTERY THRILLER J.D. ROBB DOES IT AGAIN 10TH BOOK IN THE "IN DEATH SERIES"
I love powerful Lt. Eve Dallas and how the complex New York City crimes are solved. If you don't wanna bite her husband, don't read these books! Nora Robert's best writing is as JD Robb in this "In Death" series of some 30+ stories to date. I collect all of the JD Robb books, but skip the Roberts, whose stories are not as tight as those about Lt. Eve Dallas - ass kicker! If the future of New York City is like this, I fear these futuristic killers who are sneaky and complex.

In Book 10, Eve and Roark are enjoying a rare night out together viewing his latest endeavor, a live play. The closing scene, death of the main character. When life imitated the play in the death of said main actor in front of the audience, including several members of the police department and of course Eve, it thrusts her into the drama. This book is full of twists and turns. The deceased was a particularily unpleasant and cruel person. It would be easier to eliminate those who were innocent than those who had a problem with the murdered actor. I enjoyed this book very much and I am sure you will too! Now on to Book 11, Betrayal in Death.
The J.D. Robb "In Death" series are best when read in order.

I love these book. This one was no different. Everyone gets better and better.
If you don't care for Nora Roberts BUT love Mystery/Dark Thrillers with a side of romance and a dash of comedy - then I think you'll love J.D. Robb's ... In Death series written by Nora Roberts alter ego.
I won't go into the details of the books but will tell you this: Superb character development, continuity of the story line (which means you really need to read the books in order although they can stand alone) is top notch, the relationships that are webbed and weaved together throughout each page are phenomenal and let's the reader 'really' get to know the characters.

This is a great series. When I read the first book, I didn't expect to enjoy it because I don't usually enjoy futuristic stories. But, this is not so far out there and the stories are all great. I love Roark and Eve!
This was a good mystery featuring Eve Dallas. I liked the mix of theater and crime and the way Eve figured out who the killer was.
