A very short book with a very good & riveting story. I picked it up this morning & read it in it's entirety in approximately 2 1/2 hours.
I haven't found a Diama Palmer book I didn't like!

Today, readers, were going to make Diana Palmer Stew.

Lets check and see if we have all the ingredients: first, we need a 30-something alpha male character whos angry at women in general because hes been burned once before (Stuart York). Okay, now we need an innocent late teens to early 20s shy female (Ivy Conley). Now, we take these two ingredients and add in a dash of fixation (Ivy has loved Stuart for years), verbal abuse (Stuart does this to Ivy repeatedly), and some tension (from the local drug smugglers whove set up shop in Jacobsville).

Mmmm.smell the testosterone yet?

Be careful not to let it boil over (Palmers books usually have the couple getting to second base instead of all the way, mainly due to the heroines young age). As the plot stew simmers, add in a neer do well character who spreads vicious lies about the heroine to the hero (Rachel, Ivys slatternly junkie sister) and have the hero not question the source of the lies for one second. Mix in secondary characters who will get books of their own (the sheriff, Hayes, and Minette) with the same recipe, and sweeten with one decent character who believes in the heroine (Merrie, Stuarts sister).

Bon appetite!

What a super sweet story! Read it in a couple of hours and really enjoyed it - even though it is usually not my type of book to read (usually read historical romances) but I truly liked this book.

I really did enjoy this story. The mistreated and unappreciated was well-loved and in a well-deserved financially stable situation in the end. The villain got their just deserts. The guy got his girl. And the author introduced several new characters and possible new stories in the process. Very nice.

I have read better by Diana Palmer. This book was a quick read being less than 200 pgs, but it, for me ended with a flop. Ivy and Stuart were a perfect couple from the beging and you knew from the get go that they were gong to be the center of attraction. I love how other characters from other novels were incorporated into this novel, but overall it ws not one of her better books.
