As someone who has read more books about the Civil War than he can remember, I have to say this was a very good book about Hancock. Still, there were parts I found somewhat tedious. At the same time, they were very informative. However, I'm leaving out some pages near the end of the book which went into great detail on how many presidential nominee votes he received per state delegation at Democrat conventions.
I often found myself picking up other, more entertaining, books to read while reading this one. Yet, when I finally decided to finish the book, the pages flew by.
