First let me say that it was wonderful to read a work of lesbian fiction that didn't feel like it was written by a high school student. Dr. Zschokke book is beautifully written and edited. I however felt the story was boring and the characters flat, I couldn't find anything to like about them or care about what happened to them.
Maybe the author would see it as a complement when I say that Windswept left me feeling the same way I felt about Steinbeck's Cannery Row. I just didn't get it, the characters were boring and the story really didn't go anywhere.
I don't think its because I'm not an educated person that I didn't "get" either book, (I have a Masters degree and teach at the college level,) maybe it takes someone with a degree in literature to appreciate this type of work.
Because she does write beautifully, I will read another of her works and hope for the best.
