Twelve-year old Winnie Willis loves horses--just like her mother did. But since her Mom died two years ago, Winnie, her sister, Lizzy, and her father have moved five times. Winnie never cared much-until now.
She has a chance to buy the horse of her dreams at an upcoming auction--but how will she earn enough money?
More importantly, how can she possibly convince her dad not to move them to another town...again?

Interest level:8-14.

Don't be fooled by the horses! These books are for all girls! The main charector loves horses, but the real charm is in the charectors themselves. A heart-moving and inspiring series of a girl whom w/the events envolving her sister, dad, and newfound friends; finds her courage to talk to God again.
I would say the charectors may be 11-14 yrs. old, but are idealistically more mature.
I have never read any book that has given a child a more realistic vision of having a relationship with God as these! You will love the children, wish you had friends like these, and rather, want to be one. GET THEM ALL!!!

Great start to the series

Wild Thing is a great introduction to horses for children. There is a dictionary of terms for horse talk, kinds of horses, and a diagram of the parts of a horse all included in this book! The story is also interesting - I look forward to reading more in this series.

Twelve year old Winnie has a way with horses. She helps gentle an Arabian horse that others thought was wild, and learns some valuable lessons in the process.

I thought this was a cute young adult novel about horses and a girl dealing with choices. There is a list of terms in the back about horses for those who might not be familiar with some of the words. I have read other books by this author and they have all been good.

Wild Thing by Dandi Daley Mackall

Two years ago Winnie Willis lost her mother in a car accident, she blames her self for her mothers death, and lost her faith in god. Winnie works at a stable mucking out stalls. The owners of the stable buys a wild acting Arabian white mare that is loss the first time Winnie sees her.
The horse learns to trust the girl, and the girl learns to trust god.
Sound horsemanship. Recommend for young horse lovers:)
