New York Times bestselling author Carla Neggers does it again with another non-stop action, romantic suspense. Bestselling author of Abandon, and Cut and Run, she hits a homerun with her new edge-of-your-seat whodunnit.
Abigail Browning is a Boston police officer who has not been able to get past the murder of her husband, Chris, seven years ago on their honeymoon in Maine. The crime has remained unsolved, even with all the tips and leads received over the past years. On the seventh anniversary of her husband's death, Abby receives a telephone call that she can't ignore. Another tip, but this time the mysterious caller states that the answer to Chris's murder resides at his home in Maine.
Abby returns to Maine and begins to investigate once again the murder of her husband. While there, she reconnects with an old friend of Chris', Owen Garrison. His driveway connects with Abby's, so they see each other fairly often. Soon, both begin to open up about their feelings to one another. A slow but budding romance blooms as the investigation progresses, trying to catch the killer before he strikes again.
I never did figure out who the killer was until toward the very end. A wonderful story that kept me guessing, with believable characters that I became to know well. I would recommend this to any romance or mystery lover.

I have been hooked on CN's books ever since I read the first one. Of her romantic suspense books (I do not read romance!), I have read all of them. She is an extremely talented writer.

Great new book from Carla Neggers! Kept me guessing to the end. Not tied to any other series.

Not a heavy-duty suspense, but it does keep you guessing and holds your attention. A good book and an easy read.

THE WIDOW was just a pretty generic murder mystery with a convoluted plot full of red herrings, but no engaging substance.
My first read from the author and probably my last. The writing style itself was very cliche and I lost interest in Abigail and Owen and their quest to figure out who'd killed Abigail's husband.

Seven years ago, Abigail Browning's husband Chris was murdered after only four days of marriage. No arrests were ever made. Abigail quit her job and joined the police academy. Now a cop with the Boston Police Department, she receives an anonymous tip about her husband's death. Abigail decides to take time off from her job and return to Mount Desert Island, Maine, to see if she can solve her husband's murder. Owen Garrison still lives on the island. He heads the local search and rescue team. Owen was Chris' best friend and the person who found Chris' body. Now he teams up with Abigail to find the killer.
This story didn't work for me. The first half of the story we were introduced to many characters, all of whom were on the Island when Chris was murdered. We flashed back to Abigail and Chris' honeymoon and the mysterious things that were happening during that time. I listened to the audiobook narrated by Carol Monda. I had a hard time figuring out if we were flashing back to the past or if we were in the present. There were also two characters that I thought were fourteen-year-old teenagers. Turns out they were adults who just talked and acted like teenagers. The romance between Owen and Abigail seemed to come out of nowhere. They've known each other for years, but suddenly they are in love. I will not be continuing this series. My rating: 2 Stars.

This is the 1st in Carla Neggers new series. I couldn't put this book down as it was such a good read. Mystery, Murder, Romance...what more could you ask for. I never did figure out 'who dunnit' and was surprised when I finally did find out. I've already started book 2 of this series and it is proving to be just as good.
Fairly good book. Gave it 3 stars.
I found this to be a page turner. Didn't want to put the book down.

This was an okay read. It was light and mindless.
