Shayla Black can write a sex scene, heres the evidence. Its the plot and character development that seem to trip her up. I have no problem with smut or Dom/sub sex scenes. 10 pages devoted to oral sex? Bring it. 35 pages of first sex scene? Great. But youve got to have characters doing this naughty stuff.
This book is hot, but I was so worn out from the constant, circular interior whining of both main characters that I just didnt care. The heroine was on the verge of being TSTL. Please, a woman who has a talk show about sex and she thinks to herself while the hero is about to take her against the wall do people really have sex standing up?!?! And I dont mind a flawed hero, but this guy was pretty skeevy with his revenge plan.
What Miss Black needs is a Dominant editor!

This book is hot, but I was so worn out from the constant, circular interior whining of both main characters that I just didnt care. The heroine was on the verge of being TSTL. Please, a woman who has a talk show about sex and she thinks to herself while the hero is about to take her against the wall do people really have sex standing up?!?! And I dont mind a flawed hero, but this guy was pretty skeevy with his revenge plan.
What Miss Black needs is a Dominant editor!

OMG. I cannot believe I found this in a Christian run thrift store. I suppose if I had looked carefully at the cover I might have had a clue. But all I noticed was a book in good condition. I skimmed the back and thoughf...hmmm...this might be worth .50 cents, it kinda sounds like the Kitty Norville series.

If I had a keep shelf this would be on it. I think it was my first by Shayla Black and I will definately be reading her more. The story line was pretty good. The sex was great. The Dom/Sub relationship was just right, not too over the top and no cruelty.

I love a good erotica book. BUT, they have to have a story to pull it all together. Sex scenes for the sake of sex, is boring to me. WELL, Shayla Black has hit it right this time. WICKED...WICKED...WICKED. I was hooked from the beginning, the characters are well developed and the story is believable. I found myself hoping the main couple would get their happy ending. And even dominants have their weaknesses, Right? The right woman can always bring a man to his knees. This story line is very well written and it looks like this series is off to a very HOT start. This story is steamy and explicit in its BDSM story line, if you are not adventurous, you should take a walk on the wildside and give it a try.

VERY STEAMY! The book has an interesting plot that keeps you reading but at times in the middle of the book it feels like it gets away from the plot too much. You find out later, though, that it is all building up to a crescendo.

She has a talk show called "Turn Me On" but she hasn't met the right guy yet to fulfill all her desires. When turning to Jack for help understanding dom/subs, she finally finds the man of her dreams, but someone doesn't like her desires and wants her dead. Can Jack keep her safe, help her find herself and eventually keep her? Read on and enjoy because this is one steamy book, not for the faint at heart.
I spent most of the book thinking what what an a** the hero was. Yes it was hot but I just couldn't get past wanting to smack him up side the head and tell to back off for 5 minutes to let the girl breath and then to slow it down some. It felt to much like a type of rape. I do normally enjoy D/s books but I just had to much trouble with this particular one.
It was ok. The book had alot of really good sex - but the characters were lacking. I really didn't feel for either one of them and didn't feel the connection between them. I have really liked some of her books - this one just didn't do it for me.

Black's Decadent is a favorite of mine, very sexy and love the characters. This book was not quite up to that level, but still a great read. Jack is hot, confident, knows what he wants. It is hard to imagine the two leads have any connection other than sex (and possible prophecy), for for purposes of this story, that seems to be enough. All in all, pretty darn yummy if you enjoy a little gentle D/s in your "girl porn."
