A most excellent book for every woman but especially those being abused and their families. I recommend it to all. It answered questions for me and I can't wait to pass it along to my family. I am going to purchase other books he as recommended. Get this for every woman you think may be being abused, whether physically, mentally, religiously, verbally or being manipulated and controlled. It really answers the question.

Excellent insights into the dynamics of abusive relationships! Shows how "normal" masculine gender role supports entitled behaviors that exploit partners.

Excellent expose' of the internal thinking of abusive men, for the women who love them and keep making excuses for them. A must read for women in abusive relationships, who keep trying to get their men to "understand how they feel". Lundy Bancroft gives illustration after illustration of real abusers and their predictable paths of escalating abuse, despite the pleas and entreaties of their abused wives and girlfriends. He opens up to us the thinking that results in abuse and the reasons why these men do not respond to the pleas of their victims.

If you know a woman in an abusive relationship, give her this book. It may help her to understand the danger that she is in and help her to realize she must take the necessary actions that could save her life.

This is probably the most important book I've ever read and I am ever so grateful that it was written.
