A great set of short stories by Russo, author of Nobody's Fool, The Risk Pool, Mohawk and other great novels. The first story (The Whore's Child) is unexpected, a page turner, and reminiscent of Raymond Carver, the master of short story.

This was one of the better books I hve read by Richard Russo - even though they are short stories, each one was beautifull executed and quite amazing.

A solid collection with many of the stories from either a child's point of view about grown-up behavior or an older man's looking back on relationships as he explores the past with a planned or chance encounter in the present.
