One of the best books I've read. What an adventure! I couldn't put it down and didn't want it to end. Thank goodness there are sequels. I read it years ago and still can't part with my copy of the book. Wonderful story.

The novel of America's prehistory.. I loved this compelling story. It would not let me go! Jean M. Auel, author of The Clan of the Cave Bear.

A saga of American pre-history, about the life of a woman born in pre-Columbian American southwest. Very entertaining and good character development.

If you love stories of pre-history peoples, this is a good one to read. This story takes place in the American Southwest. Kwani finds love with Kokopelli. He rescues her from death and takes her to the Place of the Eagle Clan. She learns secrets only women know and passes the knowledge on to young girls. First of a two book set.

Interesting tale of a Native American woman of the Pueblo tribe in the 1200s, but it feels overlong and by the final "dramatic" encounter with the forces of nature -- a buffalo stampede (following a flash flood, prairie fire, and tornado), the whole thing begins to get a bit tiresome.

Nice book to read if you are Earth-centered and are interested in Native Americans. A little slow in the middle, but the ending picked up.

I couldn't bring my self to like a woman who allows her self to be a willing doormat, who takes beatings and rape without batting an eye. Just in the first few chapters the woman was dumped by her mate, marked a witch, had her mother killed, been raped and beaten for months by another mate, raped/serviced 3 passing hunters, miscarried, her babies bones picked clean by crows, and rescued by another man, who while tending to her after-miscarige damage already fantasized about f**** her. This is NOT Jean M. Auel and no matter the endorsement Jean M. Aue has given the series ...... not my cup of tea.

An excellent historical account of Native American life in the ancient times. I really enjoyed this book.

My mother seemed to enjoy this book, but I couldn't really tell for certain-she reads about 3-4 books a week. All I know is she finished it, so that must count for something as I couldn't do the same.

I have to admit that only read a few chapters and didn't finish this book. Partly because it basically seemed a copy of Jean Auel's Earth's Children series, and partly because of the main character. Somehow I just couldn't empathsize much with a woman who calmly assumes that casual rape and beatings are just part of a normal day.

From back cover: Kwani. A beautiful woman born in the American southwest long before Columbus...whose blue eyes marked her as a witch and set her apart from the Indian tribe that raised her.
Following her path of destiny in a vanished world of great stone cities and trackless wilderness, warring tribes and mysterious travelers from other lands, Kwani found love with Kokopelli, the Toltec magician, who rescued her from death and took her to the Place of the Eagle Clan. There she was transformed from an outcast to the Chosen of the Gods, where she became She Who Remembers and taught young girls the ancient secrets only women know...secrets that provided her with inner power to overcome and triumph-and change her life forever.

"Revealing and Fascinating...does for our country what Jean Auel did with her incredibly researched, delightfully erotic novels of prehistoric Europe." - Houston Post
