There is a lot to enjoy about this debut novel. It's a modern-day political thriller with a dual timeline involving the United States and several foreign governments.
The author does an outstanding job describing the climate in the Arctic, living on an icebreaker trying to reach a marooned submarine with many of the remaining crew members injured or seriously ill.
