Linda Howard is a wonderful author and this book represents her at her best. The story is wonderfully told and the characters are portrayed so realistically that you think you know them. Very good read!

This was a guick book to read. I liked it but it was to wordy in describing what the 2 main charcters were feeling for eachother. If you have an afternoon to relax, read, and you like Linda Howard then this book would work.

Keeps you turning the pages....

The main character, Jay, she loses her job and is feeling at a loss. She isn't sure what to do but needs to figure something out fast. She's got only a few weeks and bills will start to be due and she might lose her apartment. Some Government officials come knocking on her door. They say her ex-husband was involved in some top secret mission, and got hurt badly and they need her help. She isn't sure what to make of it, but wants to be there for her ex-husband if she can since he has no family.

As the weeks pass by and the man lying in the intensive care seems to slowly but surely making recovery, and some long- seeted feelings start devoloping for the man in the casts, she starts double guessing herself. What is she getting herself into? Can she really trust this process the government has chosen is the right thing to do by keeping her around while her ex-husband recovers? And can her heart handle the consequences this time around?

Ms. Howard keeps you guessing as you turn each page. The storyline develops at a rather mild momentum. I think by the middle of the book things start to happen at a faster pace, as that is where most of the tension and action occur. Definitely worthwhile to pick up from the local bookstore.

This is an enjoyable, fast read in usual Linda Howard-style. The story is focused on the intricacies of the relationship between Jay and the man she believes she has identified as her ex-husband, Steve. The back story of dangerous international intrigue is not well-developed, although it does add some outside tension to what is essentially the story of these two people discovering what they mean to each other. Ms. Howard ends the story too quickly, it seems to me. Too many threads are left without enough of a satisfying conclusion, as if the author found that she was approaching the page-limit of the book contract and needed to finish up without enough 'room' to delve more deeply into how these two people resolve what could be insurmountable conflicts between them.

Nothing could have prepared Jay Granger for the arrival of two FBI agents at her door - or for the news they brought. Her ex-husband, Steve, had been in a terrible accident that had left him gravely injured. the FBI needed Jay to confirm his identity.

The man Jay finds lying in the hopital bed is almost unrecognizable. Almost. Exhausted and afraid, Jay tentatively declares that he is Steve Crossfield. but the man who awakens from the coma is not at all as Jay remembers her husband. And he remembers nothing of their life together. Suddenly nothing is familiar. Not his appearance, not the intensity of his nature, not the desire that flashed between them. Who is this man? And will the discovery of his identity shatter the passion they share?

When Jay Granger is escorted by the FBI to her exhusband's bedside, she was unprepared by the feeling that she did not know this man, even though he looked like her husband. He has no memory, but is entangled in a web of danger and duplicity.
