Sym is the appealing heroine of this dark and riveting tale of a trip to the Antarctic gone terribly wrong. She is smart, awkward, wears hearing aids and talks to her hero, an adventurer dead 90 years now, on a daily basis.

This is a very dark read and I somewhat enjoyed the plot. It's very different from any book I've read before, though it wasn't very memorable. There is a lot of arctic action and a little mental illness. Overall it was a little strange, but an okay read.
