A hero who has been accused of murder, a seemingly free-spirited heroine with a few secrets of her own, an old family house complete with secret passages and maybe even buried treasure, a small coastal community, and a supportive family add up to make this just about a perfect beach read or something to curl up with on a rainy afternoon. It brought tears to my eyes and left me feeling happy.

Like most Nora Roberts books, I didn't want this one to end. After plowing through 700 pages in no time at all, I found myself slowing down and trying to make the last fifty-some pages last longer as I'm always completely in love with her characters by then.

This one has it all: mystery, history, humor, suspense, and, of course, romance...

After finishing it, I found myself thanking God in my prayers for Nora Roberts. What would a book lovers' world be without her?

Enjoy!

Somewhat formulistic but successfully done. This time a distressed hero instead of heroine in the huge old house on the shore. Good plot twists and turns with villains and a quirky and gorgeous gal as well as the hero seeks to clear his name of a murder charge and rebuild his life. Roberts is top notch and comes through with a thoroughly challenging who dunnit along, with a tense and satisfying denoument. A good read all around.

First off ... I enjoyed this book.

That said, it follows Nora Roberts' usual formula of boy meets girl and together, they get a dog, collect a passel of amusing friends, and catch a killer. Dispite this formulaic plot device, Mz Roberts manages to infuse character, humor, a missing treasure hunt, menacing (if obvious) intruders, and an sympathetic detective (or two) into a story that was a quick feel-good afternoon read.

I have read most of her boks from her start in category romances. This one is in keeping with that original line. But, I think I like the books with undertones of a larger conspiracy and her Death series better.

Enjoyed this book. It is classic Nora Roberts - romance and suspense. The characters are likeable, and it is tough to put down during the last third of the book!

More mystery than romance, this novel centers on a man falsely accused of his wife's murder, exonerated in court but still under suspicion, as he tries to build a new life only to find that violence continues to follow him. The heroine is a bit over-the-top, but other than that, it's a pretty good read.

This is one that I hated to finish and believe that it is one of her best yet. A really good read about interesting people in a fascinating location.
