#3 Rachel Morgan paranormal romance though I'd call it more of a mystery. There is some sex in it, but not that much. Thank goodness! That's one of the things I like about this series, actually. Continues in the series where Rachel tries to get out of the deal she made with the demon Al whereby she becomes his familiar. Meanwhile, Rachel's love life does a 360 when Nick leaves and she finds herself attracted to Kisten, the undead vamp Piscary's scion. Enjoyable read with plenty of torment and darkness to go along with the fun.

I really liked this book. I’ve enjoyed watching Rachel’s character become more proficient in her magick throughout the 3 books of this series. And mmmm… yummy Kisten… I’m glad he’s playing a more prominent role in this book too, and we get to learn more about him as a person. (And that Rachel is finally ready to kick Nick to the curb as she turns an admiring eye towards Kisten. But I won’t say too much there and ruin it for you.)
Ivy is no longer vamping out all the time over Rachel, and their relationship, while still very platonic, is less stressed than it was in the previous book.
That said, I think I still liked the 2nd book the best so far of these three, although this is still a very close 2nd, tied with the first one.

Rachel Morgan kicks butt once gain in this wonderful follow-up to DEAD WITCH WALKING amd THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UNDEAD. Dealing with Piscary, master vampire, Algaliarept, an insane demon named Newt, puts a person to biting nails till the very last page. Wonderful series, wonderful writer. Long live The Hollows!!

I'm all for a good urban fantasy, but this book had too many story lines. It was difficult to determine the main plot to the point that I lost interest in the story. I've only read this book, and it became obvious early on that it's more important to begin with the first book. That way, you'll understand the many terms, such as ley line, everafter, tapping a line, etc.
I am hooked on Kim Harrison and Rachel Morgan's adventures. The plot is fast paced, Rachel continues to grow as a witch and a character, and I really like the new characters in her life. Most importantly, Rachel is starting to struggle with questions of good and evil, and what kind of person she wants to be.

Great book and a great read. I think the Hollows is becoming as real and vivid as Rawling's Hogwarts world.

I was hooked into this book and had a hard time putting it down. Harrison has quickly become one of my favorite authors because her writing style isn't flaky and lacking like a lot of the more popular ones that have bored me easily. She's similar to Laurell K. Hamilton, which makes her books a very good read.
Rachel Morgan is an amazing character who's life keeps you glued to the pages and am looking forward to starting the next book in the series.

Book 3 in the Rachel Morgan series. Best one yet. More background on our leading characters plus new ones. Stakes are raised.
Third in the series, these keep getting better every new book!
Great book, most sets that have more then two books to it kind of get redundent well this set dose not. It just gets better and better.
Sexy Cincinnati witch and bounty hunter Rachel Morgan hunts criminal night creatures. There's war going on in the underworld and she must make a stand, all the while fending off the attentions of her blood-drinking partner, keeping a deadly secret from her back-up -- hey, you cannot tell everyone everything -- and resisting a new vamp suitor. First in a new series. Funny, fast-moving and scary.
I love the way she sets this in an alternate-future Cincinnati!

Oh so much fun to be had when you pick up a book from an author you do not know, and then finding out that she can write what you want to read. I love this book and withe so many reviews I don't have to go into minute details, but understand this is a series and it grows on you and it evolves and sometimes it makes you mad, but at least you can have a good time getting lost in the Hollows...
Get it and enjoy it.

Great series. Love the pixie.
I enjoyed the book, it kept me interested all the way through the book. I have not read Kim Harrison's books in a long time, but the people in the books were still fresh and easy to pick up on. Her writing reminds me of Kelly Armstong.
LOVE IT!!! This series just keeps getting better. Nice pace, keeps you wanting more.
Kim Harrison is an amazing author and I don't know how but she made this even more exciting and fast paced than the last one!!!
This is a very well written book. It is a mus read.
Kim Harrison did it again. If starting from book one you will notice a lot of growth for Rachel. The development of Kisten in the book was a pleasent surprise.

The best of the Hollows books, Harrison seems to have settled down into the abilities and idiosyncrasies of her characters... and she likes them, in later books, I think her opinion changed.
One of the best paranormal series

Hmmm, this book was very underwhelming for me. It seemed to drag on and on and the story and characters never grabbed me. This time around Rachel has love life problems, demon troubles, elf woes, pixie-man friction and the usual vampire struggles with her roommate/business partner Ivy who wants to be more than friends. She also has to face up to her deal with the demon Al that she made in the last book. And then there's the master vampire and other assorted issues she must deal with here. Honestly, there was so much going on that I found myself lost for much of it. My focusing problems weren't helping matters out either. I feel the same way about this book as I did the last. It needs humor (I keep reading reviews calling it "light, fun, funny, etc. but I'm not seeing it . . . ) and more emotional ties to get me to care about the characters. I don't know if I'll bother to continue with the series at this point.
Really like Harrison. Interesting story lines and characters. Am continuing the series.
Love this series. Love this series. A continuous thrill read.
Rachel Morgan is a witch in Cincinnati, trying to keep her soul from demons, etc.
There's no witch in Cincinnati tougher, sexier, or more screwed up than bounty hunter Rachel Morgan, who's already put her love life and soul in dire jeopardy through her determined efforts to bring criminal night creatures to justice.
Between "runs," she has her hands full fending off the attentions of her blood-drinking partner, keeping a deadly secret from her backup, and resisting a hot new vamp suitor.
Rachel must also take a stand in the war that's raging in the city's underworld, since she helped put away its former vampire kingpinand made a deal with a powerful demon to do so that could cost her an eternity of pain, torment, and degradation.
And now her dark "master" is coming to collect his due.

Again, too much trashy romance novel inflection.

Rachel Morgan #3
Rachel has to face her deal with Al. A new witch hits town to take over Piscary's business. And to put a crimp on Trent's illegal business as well. Love the new characters of Ceri and David. Trent discloses more information about his business, elves and her father's death. Jenks gets POed and moves out, leaving everyone sad and missing something.
I loved how this book worked hard to build the relationship dynamics of the family who Rachel is slowly building around her.

Absolutely WONDERFUL!!!!
This is an enjoyable series and I now am looking forward to reading #4 in the series: A Fistful of Charms! Each book CAN stand alone; however they are fun reading along the main character (essentially a white witch by the name of Rachel Mariana Morgan) as her life and experiences progress.

Better then the previous 2 books.
Third book in Harrison's witch/vampire series and the best yet. There's no witch in Cincinnati tougher, sexier or more screwed up than Rachel Morgan. She's a bounty hunter with her vampire friend Ivy and pixie friend Jenks. This time she's dealing with the fall out of putting the head vamp in jail and her deal with the demon for his testimony. She unwittingly gets involved in a turf war and in between that and making a living, she has to deal with her love life. There's a lot of action and my favorite quote from the book is "I'm alive. Go figure.".

This was my first Kim Harrison book, and despite starting with #3 am officially hooked. If this your introduction to the Hollows go to the beginning. This series has considerable world building, and a feel all it's own. If you begin as I did with #3 it is pretty hard to get into.
I loved the world Kim Harrison has ceated and the characters who people it. It is different enough, and believable enough to hold the readers attention. The main character Rachael is strong but not superhuman, and just flawed enough without being whiney. The secondary characters are well developed and like the main character just flawed enough to be interesting, and strong enough to hold their own.
I had a hard time getting into the story, but I'm sure that wouldn't have been the case if I'd have been smart enough to start at the beginning. I quickly found myself invested in the story, and will be heading out soon to pick up the first two in the series, then pick up the storyline from where I left it in Every which way but dead.

Great series.
Really enjoyable read; I thought about keeping this for my own collection, but by the time I read everything that is on the shelf, I'll be in my 90's. It's unlikely I'll read this again, so time to get it moving, even though I'm sad to see it go.
I liked this urban fantasy featuring witch Rachel Morgan and her friends and allies. I especially liked the way she learned how to harness the ley line power within her. I look forward to reading the next book in the series, A Fistful of Charms.

I actually have this in the Hard bound version and LOVED IT! Funny thing is I didn't know I had bought it in the paperback version at an earlier time and it was hidden among all the other paperbacks. So this book has never been opened or broken in yet. Who ever gets it is actually getting a brand new book. But i'm telling you the author is a great writer, I have all of them in her collection of this series only in Hard back.
