I have read a lot of sci-fi books in my time, but seemed to have missed this author for whatever reason. I had a hard time in the first few chapters trying to decide if I wanted to continue. I did, and did enjoy the story.

Synopsis
In the vast reaches of space, there are natural means of intergalactic travel known as "gaps" or "wormholes". There are only four known wormholes in existence. But the location of one of them is hidden in a veil of mystery, lost in a conspiracy of murder. Its power belong to the first human who finds it--or the alien race who would kill for it.
