I don't know if it was because of my mood or if I truly didn't like the book...
I had read the first one (When Blood Calls) and loved it. But I had read it so long ago that I needed to reread it before I started this one and found I really didn't like these books.
1) Really doesn't seem like true love...just pure lust. Which isn't a problem for everyone but is for me
2) The author's idea of love doesn't mesh with mine....then again, I'm used to historical romances...which holds different beliefs about love than comtemporaries. Small differences that probably wouldn't bother anyone but me. For example, I like the idea of the hero not having sex with any other woman once he meets/gets involved with the heroine. In a lot of contemporaries, b/c of the modern world, it's not a big deal...but to me kinda is. Don't know why. Not that this hero does...I just wanted to use an example of what i mean.
HOWEVER, this author has a lot to offer. With complex plots and twists and plots you can't readily guess at...It's really good. She's great at writing. So I can see a good bit of people enjoying this book/series/author. Especially if my two complaints aren't a big deal to you as they are to me

Another Hit! This is the second in the series and is just as strong as the first. Sometimes a 400+ page book has some slow and tedious parts. But not this series, each page is packed full of action, suspense, and passion. The characters from the first book all return to help solve the crime against humans. But we meet a few new ones including the main couple. Theirs is an interesting match, each with their own baggage and pasts. I really enjoy the character development in this series, each character has their own path and personality, and I have become attached to some of them. Add to that, the fact that Beck creates a real "who done it" mystery to tie it all together, makes it even more enjoyable. Read the first before starting this one, or you might be a little confused as to some of the plot.

I was pleasently surprised by this new series. There is so many paranormal romance series now a day, but few worth reading. This was a great plot, great characters, keep you reading and when you are done, you'd want to buy the next book. Highly recomended.
