This book is so very helpful. It helps you to understand that the emotions you are feeling are justified. You've lost a friend/companion/family member, to you it's not "just an animal". There are many good ideas and "exercises" for coping. The infomation about how children grieve is so eye opening and right on target. There is even a chapter on deciding when you're ready for another animal.

When Your Pet Dies becomes a handbook, a tool for making it through a terrible loss and coming out okay.
