Thomas F. (hardtack) - , reviewed When The Mob Ran Vegas: Stories of Money, Mayhem and Murders on + 2567 more book reviews
While the book is an easy read and often interesting, it can also be depressing reading how the mob and its Hollywood hanger-ons got away with murder, often literally, for decades.
The author is one of those people who spent a lot of time in Vegas and who seem to revel in seeing so-called 'celebrities' or movie stars in the same room, and get excited when they have tables near them.
I've had friends like that, and often wondered why they were so fawning, especially when those friends were important in their own right.
It is also interesting reading how people with money can be easily suckered into losing vast sums.
I admit to gambling very little. I once went with friends to a casino in Delaware and quit the slots after I made a big killing and came out $20 ahead for the day. :-)
