Wonderful characters, great historical setting, and a mystery with a twist. I only wish I had known this was book 7 before I started it. I think I'd have understood about more of the family relationships if I'd started at the beginning!

This is another delightful mystery from the life of the fictional characters, Hero and Sebastion St. Cyr. The question is who killed Hero's good friend, Gabrielle Tennyson, whose body is found drifting in a boat with a knife wound in her chest. At the time she disappeared she was accompanied by two small children who are missing. Are they dead too?

Married only a few days, the honeymoon must be postponed so Sebastion can investigate Gabrielle's death and search for the missing boys. This is important because Gabrielle and Hero shared so many interests through their friendship. There are numerous suspects who resent the independence shown my Miss Tennyson. Women just didn't question males, exert such independence or do all the research she did on her own. She was an expert on the Arthurian era. But none of these reasons are behind her death.

It is difficult to sort through the suspects and the reasons for Gabrielle's murder. And, no matter how many people search or where they look there is no trace of the missing boys. I enjoyed the surprising climax which led to the murderer and solved the mystery of the missing boys. Good, good read.

Regency England, August 1812. Sebastian's plans to escape the heat of London for a honeymoon are shattered when the murdered body of Hero's good friend, Gabrielle Tennyson, is discovered drifting in a battered boat at the site of a long-vanished castle known as Camlet Moat. A beautiful young antiquarian, Miss Tennyson had recently provoked an uproar with her controversial identification of the island as the location of Camelot. Missing and presumed also dead are Gabrielle's two young cousins, nine-year-old George and three-year-old Alfred.
This is the 7th book of the Sebastian St Cyr mystery series. I read this with a group on LibraryThing. This book was full of characters and likely suspects. It was so secretive that I did not guess the killer until it was revealed at the end of the book. The plot was terrific but the real reason for the murder was not revealed until the very end but even though we were not able to tell who the killer was and the reason for the murder, I still gave her 5 stars as the book was that good. So if you love book with hidden secrets than you would love this book. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series and I hope that Sebastian and Hero share secrets with each other.
