This was a fine and satisfying conclusion to the Obsidian Trilogy. There is the tendency for "magical fixes" wherein a happy ending is provided, despite the death or injury of major characters. Some may view this as a flaw but for those who wish for an exciting story with a guaranteed happy ending, this is just the book to provide that. There's nothing wrong with wanting a happy ending; that's why it is fantasy, yes?
It's not a scholarly nor a challenging series, just a wonderful, comfortable read for entertainment. And there's not a durned thing in the world that is wrong with that.
