Just a sweet Christmas story. Older heroines (20's and 40's) and simple story with some smiles thrown in. Just a the right heartwarming Christmas story when you are in the mood. It's about a 40'ish mother living in Washington who swaps houses with a professor in Boston over the Christmas holiday. Their adventures, who they meet, and how they open up in their new towns are the gist of the story. Nice!

Liked it better than some of her other Christmas stories. I very closely resembled a movie that took place in England and in the US but I can't remember the name of it. Still and all, a very nice, cozy read for this time of year. It reinforced our decision on the very unusual way we are going to spend out Christmas this year, since all our gang has their own plans. Christmas is what we make of it and when the old traditions are jeopardized, just make new ones!!!!!

A really sweet and beautiful Christmas story! The ending was really great! I loved it! I think this book was the basis for the movie, The Holiday, with Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law and Jack Black. I really enjoyed the movie as well.

A humorous story that helped me get into the Christmas spirit. We can't always depend on old holiday traditions, sometimes a change is just what we need. A quick and easy read which is just what I like in the days up to Christmas.

Cute book-perfect to get you into the holiday mood. It was a quick read that wasn't hard to tackle. Reminded me a bit of the movie "The Holiday" with Cameron Diaz and Jack Black. But the book was even more complicated and cute. I would definitely recommend this to a friend!

It wouldn't be Christmas without Debbie Macomber's heart warming tale of love. A traditional Christmas in previous years was not at all what happened for Emily and her daughter, Heather. Her good friend Faith finds love in Washington while Emily and Heather learn they are ready to move on in their lives. Choose this book for a nice evening by the fireplace with the snow falling out the window.

Trading houses.
Trading towns. Trading Christmas.

Through an Internet site, they arrange to swap houses for the holiday. So Emily goes to Boston--and discovers that her daughter has gone to Florida. And Charles arrives in Leavenworth to discover a town that looks like Santa's village, full of Christmas trees, Christmas music and elves.

Meanwhile, Emily's friend Faith Kerrigan travels to Leavenworth to visit her--and finds Charles the grouch. . .whose brother, Ray, shows up at Charles's place, to find Emily living there.

Through all the mix-ups and misunderstandings, amid the chaos and confusion, romance begins to emerge in unexpected ways. Because when Christmas comes, so does love. . .

I just really loved this book. I read it in 2 days. It's light easy reading. It's probably your typical romance comedy - but I still really enjoyed it. It's about a lady who does a house swap with another person. The lady is going to be with her daughter for Christmas in Boston. She gets there to surprise her daughter & her daughter has went to Florida. The man, Charles that moves into her house for 2 weeks, doesn't like Christmas. He gets to her house & finds out the town looks like Santa's village. Very cute, funny & romanic. Perfect for these cold winter days so close to Christmas.

Widow Emily is looking forward to Christmas, when her daughter, Heather, comes home from Harvard to Leavenworth, Washington, an idyllic small town that goes all out for the holiday. When Emily finds out that Heather has no intention of spending Christmas with her, she calls her friend, Faith, for sympathy, then decides to surprise her daughter in Boston. No rooms are available, so she tries a Web site that exchanges houses. Emily trades her house for two weeks with an absentminded professor who hates Christmas and is on her way. Then Faith makes a surprise visit to Emily and is surprised instead. Heather leaves with a biker dude for Florida; Faith then hitches a ride with an acting troupe dressed as elves. Add a Pomeranian and a lobster, and hilarity ensues, as does romance in prolific Macomber's fast-paced, lighthearted, and charming Christmas story, a tale as joyful as the season itself.
