Fine book for anyone into the issue of the Chinese empire discovering the new world. Sticks to known and accepted facts at time of publication and give a good background of the controversy and history of China

A little light on the details of the actual voyages (apparently, the official logs of the voyages were destroyed), and the author does not get carried away by speculation. She does write in detail about the inward-outward dichotomy of the early Ming emperors.
