Martha Wells is rapidly becoming one of my favorite authors. You can always count on interesting, well-thought out plots and characters. Her world-building in this book is fabulous, as it is in all her others books. I particularly liked the fact that Maskelle, the main character, is a woman of color and approaching 50 years in age, plus her lover is some 15 years her junior. There's no "fuss" made about this - it's just matter-of-fact. They show affection and caring for one another and they have sex which is not described in graphic detail, rather it's implied. It's a very minor part of the book - the main focus here being on plot, character development, and world-building. I greatly appreciate that. I love this book!

This is a very well written book. It kept my interest and was very fast paced. I enjoyed the two main charecters and their interaction with each other. I highly recommend this book for all fantasy and sci-fi book lovers. You will not be disappointed.
