I was unhappy with the content of this book largely because it assumes two things- that your son is ignorant of circumcision (and then states that it doesn't hurt a baby and does not affect a man's penis in anyway which is incorrect), and that your son is going to have sex. Not that he could choose to not have sex-- but that he will as a teen.

This book assumes that your boy will have sex before marriage and advocates homosexuality. It is NOT for conservative folks!

My son, now 14, found this book very helpful when I gave it to him.. It answered lots of questions that I didn't know (his mom). It is not judgemental about homosexuality, which is consistent with our values as a family. It is very clear about the risks of sex (emotions, health issues, pregnancy) and has sections like "Being sure you are ready" and "Pressuring Others" . I reviewed the book carefully before giving it to my son, and did not feel he was old enough when I first bought it. But later it was a good, factual, comfortable approach to lots of things that were an issue for him.
