If you are looking for a "Kiss and Tell" or "And then I slept with..." type book by someone who is not serious about his chosen career - look elsewhere. Mr. Schieffer is the consummate TV news reporter with a basket full of wonderful stories about his decades spanning news career. He literally "wrote the book" on civilian war correspondants during the Viet Nam era. His memories aren't all smiles - but they're all wonderful stories. I'm glad I read this!
Terriffic insight into the life of a television journalist that set the bar for guys like Anderson Cooper
This is well written. Even though I'm not a politics aficionado, I really enjoyed it. I was hoping for some juicier stories but since it was well written, I didn't mind too much. Don't let the length be daunting. I finished it quite quickly, which is not my usual MO.

Enjoyed this book very much. I think I am about the same age as Shieffer so a lot of the things he talked about were things I remember well. It is also obvious that Shieffer has a lot of experience writing news stories for eventual on air broadcast. He has a good eye for the interesting detail and tells a very good story. There is also a little humor mixed in. Great book.
Missing DJ but otherwise in perfect shape
