Fabulous idea for a book, but I found some of the essay's a little too short or not deep enough. My book club read this and it is a GREAT book club book because it provokes a lot of discussion. An enjoyable, quick read.

I was hoping for something more substantial. Some of the women are indeed accomplished, impressive people but none of the chapters truly moved me. They seem very gaurded. Most of the subjects used would take a backseat to any "ordinary" woman in the advice arena- Most of our granmothers could tell better tales and give more salient advice to others.

This is an interesting book, the author gives a brief bio of the famous person, then the person writes a letter to the person they were at a particular point in their lives, giving advice to that person. I particularly enjoyed Phylicia Rashad, Queen Noor, and Maya Angelou.
