Wonderful read; written from the perspective of a young Black girl living in Detroit/Lansing. When her father dies of an overdose, her mother moves her & her teenaged sister to live with their grandfather. Dealing with the loss of her dad as well as their mother and the challenges of childhood in a world of racism as well as living with a grandfather she doesn't really know, KB learns the complexities of living in the adult world that isn't perfect. Touching!
