I absolutely love Melody Carlson books and this book was no exception, it was well written with characters and a story you can't help but get invested in. What I did not like is I felt like I read half the story and do not even have a release date for the second half. They are on the Organ Trail and have just reached the hard mountain part of the trail when the book ends. I understand sequels and really enjoy them but by the time the next book comes out, I will feel like I need to reread this book and I have already committed to send it to someone. I would not call it a cliff hanger, but it is not a satisfied feeling when you reach the end. Very disappointed in one of my favorite authors. Gave a 5 star book a 3 1/2 star because it was not a complete story.

I really enjoyed this sweet story about a family's journey on the Oregon Trail. Highly recommended!
