I really need suggestions for good Western books and authors for my husband. He loves watching westerns on TV. He loved reading a book about the Lone Ranger. He needs a book to keep his interest and attention.

Plus, if you have any on your shelf and can give me a great deal, that would be wonderful as well.

You can't go wrong with Louis L'amour. A classic western writer.

Hi! I *just* posted a bunch of Louis L'Amour books I picked up! I knew someone would love these Westerns. I've read a couple and they're really good. I'll PM you.

My husband just loved William Johnstone's series, "Last Mountain Man" and "Preacher". He enjoyed most of his other western series as well, but that was his favorite.

You can't beat Louis L'Amour.  My husband also likes J. R. Roberts, but prefers his earlier books as opposed to the newer books (the books are numbered and he likes those 200 and below the best).  He also likes Elmer Kelton whose books are a bit harder to find now that he's passed away.  Another western author he likes is W. W. Southard; however he only wrote three books and then must have passed away.

I have been searching for F.M. Parker books.  Great settings and characters.  Lots of shoot 'em up and horses.

Lately my husband has been reading every book by Johnny Quarles that he can get his hands on and has been raving about the author's writing and characterizations.
