A pretty good story once you get over the alternate earth part with it's intelligent reptiles. Harrison once again weaves a story that captures you with the richly developed characters. The genetic expertise of the reptiles is not too far out there I guess. The humans are very engaging. I recommend it!

This is the first book in a trilogy. However, the author doesn't end with a cliffhanger, but with an apparent resolution to the story. This makes me think the book was well received and sold a lot of copies, so Harrison decided to make it a trilogy. But you can stop with this one if you choose to do so.

From a master of of imaginative storytelling comes an epic tale of the world as it might have been, a world where the age of dinosaurs never ended, and their descendants clashed with a clan of humans in a tragic war for survival.
It is the tale of Kerrick, a young hunter who grows to manhood among the dinosaurs, escaping at last to rejoin his own kind. His knowledge of their customs makes him the humans' leader, the dinosaurs most feared enemy.

I read this book when it was first published. It is a great read, with a different view point on "what if". Highly recommend it.
