Another cute chick lit novel from Crusie... Two sisters who operate a small wedding video business join a has-been actress to make a film in the actress' home town. Naturally, they almost immediately meet handsome available men, and romance (and explicit sex) promptly ensues. Throw in a mother who is protective of her 30-something, womanizing son, a Porn King who may sponsor the film if they spice it up a little, a councilman's daughter who can't wait to get out of town, and, oops, a dead body, and you know you're off for a fun ride.

Filled with laughs both big and small, this is a fun little book about life, love and putting your family first always. While parts were a bit drawn out and mildly confusing, the overall story kept me smiling until the very end.

This is the 2nd book I've read by Crusie and though not my usual genre, I think I liked it better than Fast Women. It started off slow and the first chapter had a hard time holding my interest. I had just finished a cozy mystery, Owls Well Ends Well by Donna Andrews, and the slower pace of Temptation kept putting me to sleep. I almost thought I'd have to put it down before finishing the first chapter. Since I was traveling at the time, and at the 2006 BookCrossing Convention, I had my share of other books to choose from instead of starting this one. Fortunately, I kept at it though, and the pace picked up as additional characters were introduced.

What a great, light summer read...I think Crusie's best book! A romantic comedy/mystery with likeable characters, small town gossip and a bit of political intrigue thrown in for good measure. I pulled my lounge chair into the shade and gobbled this one up like candy.
Another favorite by Jennifer Cruise. She writes such realistic heroines, women that I would love to be friends with. And men that I would just love to love. Sophie is always looking out for everyone else, and finally she's met the man who asks, "who looks out for you?".

While I've loved everything else that I've read by Jennifer Crusie, this story just seemed a little scattered to me. I had a hard time keeping my interest or following with it.
A romance/comedy that has wonderfully "twisted" characters. It is nice to have characters that aren't perfect and develop slowly throughout the book, not just in one fell swoop at the end! This is the second book I've read by Crusie and I'm hooked.

My first chick lit whodunnit. I didn't like it as much as Fast Women (which is excerpted at the end of this book). One chapter in particular was full of typos.

Wow! What a fun book! I had a few moments in the first few 75 pages or so that I found to be a little too bizarre (some of the residents of Temptation belong in Stepford!), but it picked up after that and was very enjoyable. I am one of those people who MUST read books in order, if you are too, follow this one up with Faking It to find out what happens with Davy.

This book was a real struggle for me to finish. If I hadn't been having it read to me via audibook, I don't honestly think I would've stuck it out. Until now I've enjoyed all of the Crusie books I've read but this one just didn't resonate with me. It's about a pair of sisters who visit the town of Temptation to shoot a documovie on a fading movie star (at least that's what I got out of it). They've always been outsiders and were raised by a con man so and though they're harmless enough they rather thrive on being a little 'bad'. Naturally, one of the sister's falls for the upright major. They have lots of supposed fantasy sex (that was a bit boring, if you ask me) and the major gets into hot water because the town is afraid the movie the sisters are making is going to be nothing but porn. Someone dies, a water tower gets painted several times, the aging starlet has sex with the son of her former lover, a young girl falls in love a porn producer (I found this storyline gross) and other assorted things happen that I found unbelievable. This book didn't have the wit and spark of the earlier books I've read by this author and in the end there were so many characters that I had a very difficult time remember who was who and wouldn't bother rereading it to figure it out.
