After reading the second book in the series first. I knew I had to read the first book to see what led up to all these shenanigans! Jenny Colgan writes such fun stories. Her main characters always have the quirkiest personalities. This one tells how Rosie came to live with her Aunt Lillian in a quaint little town (Jenny's stories always take place in quaint little towns!) Her aunt is in failing health, and she's there just to help her out and hopefully sell the little sweet shop in town that had been in their family forever. There's a back story about Lillian growing up and the people she used to hang around with, and her brothers going off to war. There are always funny situations. As usual, I have to read a light hearted book in between reading all my historical fiction ones!
