I finished reading Welcome to Moonlight Harbor by Sheila Roberts more than a week ago and then learned of the death in my family. This required my presence on the right coast, a week in a house that sits on the water of a harbor. I'll take it! In any case, this is my excuse for taking so long to write this review. Ms. Roberts has the ability to take a sometimes sad story and see the humor in the situation. This one is no different.

Given the fact that directly after reading this story, I was attending a funeral where folks were asking if we'd be back, to which my husband replied sure, we have family here. When asked who, he replied with the names of three people currently buried in the memory garden of the churchâone being the one we were there to bury. I think Ms. Roberts would appreciate our sense of humor!

This is a new series for Ms. Roberts. In this, the first book, she explores a story of the recently divorced Jenna Jones, who is paying what amounts to alimony to her ex-husband, who is an artist. Jenna has full custody of their teenaged daughter, Sabrina. Her ex has zero interest in seeing or having anything to do with Sabrina and Jenna may mistakenly shield Sabrina from some of life's truths, particularly when it concerns her father. In the midst of gloom and doom, Jenna receives a letter from her great Aunt Edie asking Jenna to come and take over operations of the Driftwood Inn on the beach. Jenna jumps at the opportunity and Sabrina goes into a blue funk over being taken away from her friends and father. When they arrive, they find that the hotel is not what Jenna remembers from her summers with her Aunt, it's run down and in sad need of repair. Jenna immediately pulls up her sleeves and gets to work on restoring the hotel to its former glory; despite her budgetary constraints.

Right away, I wanted Jenna to succeed as she made friends in her newly adopted town and I'm certain that you will too!

In the interest of full disclosure, I'm part of Ms. Roberts's street team. I got this book for free from the author for my honest review.
