What an odd read. Mom gave me this book last summer as something to enjoy over a visit to her house. I started it and didn't fall in love, but when the book got lost during our move this fall I somehow really regretted not finishing the story. So when I unpacked a box and it popped up, I was glad... And in the end, it was really a very good story with a heart-warming finish.

Another well written book by Lorna Landvik. Her books generally take place in the Midwest.

I love the way this author creates such interesting characters. You know when you read Lorna Landvik you will get a new and exciting story that captivates you until the end.
This book is centered around a broadway star who goes to babysit her nephew in Minnesota for a month while her (twin) sister and her husband go to Italy for a month.

This is a great story about an aunt, a Broadway star, goes home to care for her Downs Syndrome, while his mom (her twin) and her hubby take a dream vacation. Geneva is taken on a new journey through the love of her nephew, and a new man!

Admirably captures the ups and downs of a small town from the humorous perspective of a big-city star. A Ballantine Readers Circle choice with a reading discussion guide in the back of this book

This is an awesome story about finding out who you are and how you can handle differences.

A little different than some of Lorna Landvik's books, but a good one, none the less!Great character development. I loved Rich and Conrad. This is a good tale of the struggles that exist for the handicapped. It's also a great tale of family, friendship, and love!

Megastar of stage, screen, and television, Geneva Jordan now has a command performance in Minnesota, where she agrees to look after her 13-year-old nephew, a boy with down's syndrome, while his parents take a long-overdue vacation. 5 stars.

I thought I'd read all of Landvik's books, until I stumbled across this one at the bookstore last weekend. What a treat! Angry Housewives Eating Bon-Bon's is still my favorite, but this one runs a real close second!

A really terrific book - made you really think about things. I highly recommend this book!!!

I really liked this story. It showed a lot of heart and is different for Landvik, but still a fabulous story. I laughed. I cried. I finished it in a few hours. :)
Megastar of stage, screen, and television, Geneva Jordan now has a command performance in Minnesota, where she agrees to look after her thirteen-year-old nephew, a boy with Downs syndrome, while his parents take a long overdue vacation. Though Geneva and her sister, Ann, are as different as night and day, Geneva remembers she had a family before she had a star on her door. But so accustomed is she to playing the lead, finding herself a supporting actress in someone else's life is strange and unexplored territory. Then the discovery of an old scrapbook that she and her sister created long ago starts her thinking of things beyond fame. For The Great Mysterious is a collection of thoughts and feelings dedicated to answering life's big questions---fare outside the spotlight's glow...
Another great Landvik read. Real characters that bring out emotions we all feel and often can't talk about!
A wonderful book about finding true love and realizing the importance of having true love in your life. A very quick read!
Started out slow but this is a really good book. Loved the story and the characters!
Yoikes! Landvik is one of my favorite authors. Reading this book, I wondered if she is actually the author. This is a pretty bad romance, with an overly self-centered heroine suddenly thrust into taking full responsibility for her Down Syndrome nephew, for one month, who is going to teach her the true meaning of life. And there is the misunderstood divorced father of a little girl...
Sure, we can find this plot line over and over again in books, but the interest comes from the individual story, the author's voice and style. Those things just were not there for me with this book. I couldn't even finish it, and didn't need to, as it was just too predictable.
