This is fun and suspenseful SF. Kangaroo is an appealing character. He has this superpower, and he kinda knows that's the only reason the Agency keeps him around, but he really wants to be valued for other skills too. You sure can't fault his resourcefulness. Good world-building and political intrigue - suspenseful without being all Tom Clancy about it. The dialogue sounds right and there's enough supporting characters to carry the plot without the need for a list. Loved the "pocket". This will make a good series.
