I wasn't that impressed when I started this book - seemingly spoiled rich girl in Singapore, snotty slut mom, series of "dads", maybe a touch too 21st century, all caught up in the onset of WW2. However as I read on, it became an engaging adventure and a story of personal growth and the zillion mischances of war. I wound up liking it a lot.
Nanreath Hall is mentioned in this book, but it's not necessary to have read the author's previous titles.
It's a real page turner. I recommend it.
