Yes, yes, I know, I wasn't going to read any more of this series. But as I said last time, the pull of a familiar name is strong. I saw the title pop up and put it on hold at the library. I found this entry to be more enjoyable than the last, but my expectations are lower now. It has a couple discontinuities that editing should have picked up, the bad guys spend way too long explaining their convoluted plot, and Bernie's family problems are getting tiresome. But I thought it moved along well enough, the setting is excellent, and I still enjoy spending time with the characters (although Leaphorn is only mentioned once). so, not great, but certainly not bad.
