I wanted to read this book because I saw the movie Aquamarine and I kept wondering why oh why did the movie end like it did (cause I thought the ending was horrible) and I wondered if the book was the same. The movie and the book are like night and day. The book made me realize why the movie had such a bad ending, because the movie was nothing like the book at all, except it had a mermaid, the two girls, and Raymond. That's about where it ends. It is a very quick read, I finished the Aquamarine part of the book in about half an hour. But it's a good read for those that want to figure out why the movie was the way it was.

Two short stories about mermaids and merfolk. I found both stories to be really easy reads that you could finish in an afternoon. They were enjoyable and lighthearted, nothing too heavy. I think they are targeted towards younger readers. But I've read some of Alice Hoffman's other works and she stays true to her themes of bringing magic to every day life and human situations.

AQUAMARINE
I had seen the movie and remembered it to be fairly entertaining, but found the story a bit boring a disappointing. I was stuck reading it since I had nothing else with me (read while in the docs office, so it was good for that at least). I was looking for a quick read, which I found, but it wasn't all that great.

INDIGO
This short story was much better than "Aquamarine", which is the only other one I've read (so far) by this author. I could see this one being made into a movie much easier than Aquamarine had just due to its unique plot and characters that were fairly easy to relate to. It has some wonderful life-lessons and a happy ending. What more can you ask for?
