I'm still not sure how I feel about this book. It was deftly written with vivid prose, but it was quite tragic in a number of ways. That doesn't make it bad, of course, but I think maybe I just wasn't in the mood for tragic.
Really well written exploration of the Wizard of Oz. Ryman explores the meaning of the story in book and movie form, and uses this to examine American culture past and present. Reminded me of Michael Cunningham's "The Hours" in structure (though this book was written first).
