I loved it! Part of her Brotherhood of the Sword series, this is Lochlan's story and not to be missed.

The first book in a new series, Brotherhood Of The Sword by Kinley MacGregor.Lochlan MacAllister was born to lead and was ruthlessly groomed to become laird of his clan. He has dedicated his life to taking care of his people. Three brothers are wed but Lochlan has yet to find the bride he is expected to take. One brother, Kieran, has been presumed dead until a clue turns up that he may not have drowned after all. Lochlan sets out to determine the fate of this lost brother.

Catarina is the illigetimate daughter of the king of France. Her father wants to marry her off for political reasons so bad that he sends men to kidnap her.. Catarina just wants to be free to live as she chooses. And she rather scrappy, to say the least.

Lochlan runs across the men chasing her and comes to the rescue. When their fates intertwine, two people who know nothing of trust must learn to rely on each other.

I liked he characters in this book who are brought to life with the skillful story-telling of Kinley MacGregor. Action filled suspense with a good plot and just a bit of sex made this a god read and a great start of a series. I eagerly await book two.

It was in Kinley MacGregor's bio in this book that I learned she also writes as Sherrilyn Kenyon! As much as I like the Dark Hunter books, the Brotherhood of the Sword may become my favorite.

Excellent author. This is actually the last book in the McAllister series.

1. Master of desire - Draven and Emily
2. Claiming the highlander - Braden and Maggie
3. Born in sin - Sin and Caledonia
4. Taming the scotsman- Ewan and Nora
5. The warrior- Lochlan

This is another book that is not in my normal reading preferences, but was well-written enough that it was a pleasure to read! The characters are developed with believable human interactions. While not deep reading, it was not a disappointment when I reached the end. I could definitely read another one by MacGregor.

I adore Sherrilyn Kenynon so I thought I would give her alterego MacGregor a try. It was such a fun book with great dialogue. I adored both Catarina and Lochlan. They were witty and don't drag down by "Should I be with him/her" agnst. I was somewhat bothered by the ending with Catarina's father but overall I still found the book very enjoyable. Will look forward to going back and reading the other Brotherhood of the Sword novels.

Another great one by Macgregor that's a quick easy read with very likable characters. Lochlan is everything a hero should be and Catarina is everything a heroine should be. Definitely worth the read.

Love this author. She hasn't written one yet I didn't like & this book proves it. Great story.

I love Kinley McG's style, and poor Lochlan she saved to last. The laird of the clan, she made him out to be just complicated enough, and this is a good read and a good "cap" to the MacAllister Bros series (not the best, but good). The only problem being, I suspect her publishers had her "intertwine" the MacAllister and Brotherhood of the Sword storylines to sell more books. Since (when reading in order) there are 3 books separating the previous MacAllister brother and this one, Lochlan's story suffers in flow a little.

Although there are some elements that seem to suggest the author was a little rusty on the backstory (suddenly the late MacAllister patriarch has gone from a wimpy passive-aggressive father in "Born in Sin" to a dictating, cruel and abusive father in Lochlan's memory in "The Warrior,") it is Lochlan and Catarina who really shine.

Kinley pulls out the stops with a good ending that keeps you on the edge of your seat. There is an epilogue, however, that is confusing at best. I suspect Kinley's publishers again tried to tie this novel in with her other series by implying a supernatural touch at the very end.

If you are like me and prefer the "historically believable" to the supernatural, do yourself a favor and skip the epilogue. You'll be happier. Braden (Claiming the Highlander) Sin (Born in Sin) and Ewan (Taming the Scotsman) are books I have read again and again. Although I was happy to see Lochlan finally settled in this novel, it pales in comparison, but enjoy it nonetheless.
