I really liked this story. It reminded me a little bit of Julie Garwood's medievals. I liked the characters, the heroine was sweet and true to the time period. The hero was alpha without being a brute. I enjoyed this story and recommend it.

A good Read. Few complaints...
A strong story with no ghosts of mistresses past or threats of mistresses future on the Hero's part, so that was a a big plus. There was an unanswered question or two and a few things the heroine did made me want to yell at her, but not beat her senseless (so another plus right there :p )
There was a minor minor side story as well, but it was mostly told through the Hero and Heroine's point of view, which made me like it more as the focus was never taken off them and their story.
Although it was published years ago, this was as good as, (or even better in some cases) then a lot of current historical romance reads. Definitely looking forward to my next EE novel!
On a side note another reviewer mentioned thinking this was similar to Julie Garwood novels, I just wanted to say I respectfully disagree.. I've read all JG's historicals, and while they're good, I thought The Warlord was actually a step above them.)

HTF Excellent!
It has been a long time since i've read this one too, but I do remember it was very good.
good historical romance
Very good read.
*YAWN* The perfect but insecure and physically abused heroine, the perfect but mentally abused hero . . . perhaps I've read too much Balogh recently, but this romance is so formulaic it hurts. I liked Elliott's _Scoundrel_ better, which is why I ordered this one.
Sexy with lots of tension. Book is staged in 1278 AD
Loved it. Loved the fierceness of Kenric and the softness of Tess. Great contrast and great love story.
I really enjoyed this book
Lady Tess longed to return in peace to her beloved Remmington Castle--but she never thought that the price of reclaiming her land would be marriage to the most notoious warlord in all of England. Fierce and fearless, Kenric of Montague had never admitted defeat, and now he demanded Tess's loyalty--and her surrender. But how could she give herself to a man who pledged to keep her safe yet stirred her most dangerous passions?
