Mary Morris presents an unforgettable account of her 1986 trip on the Trans-Siberian Express through China, Russia and Eastern Europe. She combines vivid portrayals of the people in each location while in search for her ancestral home in the Ukraine. This is a powerful travel memoir illuminated by the unique sensibility of the author. Having traveled to many of the destinations, I can vouch for the honesty and depth in reporting each place.
