Quite a good book for anyone interested in the state of current U. S. rail travel. Author travels just about every route in the system, giving highlights of each experience. Much of the book is also taken up with interviews with various state and federal officials on the future of the system.

Recommended, although those looking strictly for a travel narrative might become frustrated with the (wonky) technical and policy digressions.
