When I'm looking for a quick read I pick up a Love Inspired book. This book, the second by author Ruth Logan Herne is one of the best I've read in a while. Admittedly I usually only read from the LI historical line but this interested me and I just happened to win a copy from Seekerville. I really enjoyed the characters especially "plain Jane" Sarah Slocum and hunky veterinarian, Craig Macklin and even the four-legged critters too. The author's sense of humor shines through in this book even though it's quite serious at times there's a laugh or to thrown in the mix. I really enjoyed this story and I'm glad that I have a copy of Rita's story, Made to Order Family so I can get started right away and see what happens next up in the North Country.

*I received my copy from the author through a giveaway but was not obligated to provide a review.*

This is actually the first book in this series/trilogy but was published 2nd. Each book has it's own couple but Winter's End(listed as book 1 but is actually book 3) has the couple in this book already together. So it's Waiting Out the Storm, Ready Made Family, then Winter's End. I think Winter's End was my fave but I enjoyed all 3 stories and they're tear jerkers too but all have HEA's. This one the woman is branded as bad because of her stepfather and half-brother/stepbrother. Her brother's widow is an alcoholic(she gets her story in Ready Made Family) and her children stay with Sarah a while and the veterinarian who avoids her like crazy(his grandfather was a victim of the halfbrother/stepfather's money scheme)ends up buying his dream property right near Sarah's place! Arguments, reconciliation, pets growing old...just a good story overall and introduces the next book's heroine as well.
