While I generally enjoy Ms. Hubbell's writing, I was disappointed to learn that she thinks the word "theory" has a different meaning in the scientific community than it has in the dictionary. The "theory of evolution" is still an unproven theory. Unlike, oh, say, "the law of gravity."
If a writer doesn't adhere to the rule that words have a distinct and precise meaning, it's no wonder that so often people can't communicate even though they appear to speak the same language.
Now that she's left Missouri, I doubt I'll read anything she publishes in the future.
