A wonderful journey into Spock's past.
It was an excellent book. In the true Star Trek tradition.
Set just after the events of the film Generations (therefore after the death of Kirk) he story goes back and forth between snippets from Spock's youth and events of the present, both involving a human friend who shared/is sharing both adventures. I enjoy seeing more of the personal lives of the characters and this had a fairly good story as well. Uhura gets a chance at command under pressure, McCoy provides the usual snark that I, at least, have always loved.
